Everything, really. But I will boil it down to a minor rant.

First of all, Karen has been doing yeoman’s service covering the Hunter Biden scandal stories, and I won’t step on her coverage. You should read her stuff for background on all the Biden legal stories out there. Ed too has written about it. I won’t pile on regarding the specifics because you should be reading all the good work my colleagues are doing.

With that said, this whole story makes me furious.

Hunter Biden has a soul that is as black as a moonless night, and a character as disgusting as a rotting corpse. He is worse than scum.

This is a man who has scammed millions from foreign companies, peddled influence for decades, corrupted our government, commanded the loyal service of government law enforcement and our nation’s intelligence services to cover for his misdeeds, and he is actually trying to reduce his child support payments to his illegitimate and unacknowledged daughter by claiming he is “unemployed.”

“Unemployed?” Under normal circumstances, a human-trafficking crackhead would be unemployable, but this is a man who sells his paintings for hundreds of thousands of dollars to anonymous buyers who are still purchasing influence from a man who regularly travels with the President of the United States. Hunter has been sleeping in the White House to avoid legal papers, for God’s sake!

Currently, Biden is vacationing at the home of a billionaire donor to his father while simultaneously pleading poverty. His tax obligations were paid for by a different big donor to the president when he was in deep hock to the agency and under legal threat.

This man is a walking scandal-generating train wreck. It is as if Pete Buttigieg were directed to ensure that he was on the straight and narrow, disasters follow him so much.

Still, while each of these things bothers me deeply, none of them alone is why I decided to write about this. Even the plain, obvious corruption of the federal legal system under Joe Biden is to be expected, I suppose. It should be covered by journalists, which it barely gets, but others here at Hot Air are doing a fine job of covering it.

What infuriates me is that the entire MSM establishment–those fine folks who spent years going after Donald Trump’s kids for breaking no laws whatsoever have decided that none of this merits more than a passing mention. The President of the United States flaunts his close relationship with his scumbag son, denies the existence of a granddaughter time and again, and the press just nods and covers for them both as if it is nothing of note.

The fact that there is a skyscraper’s worth of evidence that the FBI and intelligence “community” mobilized to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story–illegally using their power to suppress the free speech rights of American citizens and a newspaper–barely merits a mention. And those mentions are almost all trying to “debunk” manifestly true stories and discredit reporters whose integrity is a thousand times more evident than all the mainstream reporters combined.

Most Democrats and many Republicans believe that the Hunter Biden Laptop was not genuine and instead a product of Russian disinformation.

In truth, it was always clear to anyone who looked carefully that the laptop was what it appeared to be.

It is infuriating. There isn’t even a pretense that they should be covering one of the greatest political scandals in American history–the fact that the Vice President and now President of the United States sold government policies to the highest bidders.

No big deal. Those payments to just about every member of the Biden family that came from a Chinese Communist Party front?

No big deal.

This isn’t a case of liberal “bias.” Bias is spinning stories to make your friends look better. This is actually aiding and abetting crimes, covering up scandals, and gaslighting the American people perpetrated by our supposedly free “press.”

The press has always been biased, of course. Newspapers used to be understood to be almost organs of political parties, and everybody knew and understood that. But as the press professionalized in the 20th century there was an attempt to make the news more “neutral,” and while never entirely successful, there was a time when most reporters tried to tell the truth as they saw it.

The opposite is true now. Their job is to bury the truth, spread lies, and be propaganda outlets for the Leftist establishment. It really is that simple.

Tucker Carlson’s musings in recent months are spot on. I wrote about this the day after he was fired. In particular, he spoke of how he came to realize that the media is nothing more than an extension of the regime’s power structure, and how shocked he was to realize that.

The collapse in the trust Americans have in the media has followed–in a delayed fashion–the fall in the trustworthiness of the media.

The problem, though, is that there really isn’t an alternative source of information, so most of us know that they aren’t trustworthy but still rely on them to distribute the information we do see. We can’t even imagine what we don’t see. So even if we know they are liars, they still control the flow of information and to a great extent the boundaries of what we can think.

It makes one feel impotent in the face of evil. They have hundreds of billions of dollars investest in infrastructure to control the flow of information. How can we match that? Without Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, how much of what we have learned about the censorship infrastructure would have come to light? Probably little to none.

Tucker’s other message that struck me as totally right came in his Heritage speech last weekend, and it is worth listening to again.

We really are in the midst of a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil. It’s weird to say. It sounds apocalyptic. But it is true.

Even 10 years ago could you imagine a president praising the sterilization and mutilation of children? The destruction of the family? The investigation of parents for speaking up at school boards?

Now anybody who does that is a domestic terrorist and is investigated by the FBI.

So what frosts me so much about the Hunter Biden scandals is how obviously it reveals the corruption at the core of our cultural and political institutions, and how little so many people care to see it and to fight it.
