Tom Nichols exemplifies the elite contempt for you and me

Tom Nichols of The Atlantic is a smart guy, but totally ignorant of how the rest of us live and think.

Nichols has become increasingly unhinged since he contracted Trump Derangement Syndrome. His contempt for Trump the man has translated into full contempt for Trump supporters, and he has let his apparent disgust flyover country bumkins become his guiding light.

Nichols matters because The Atlantic matters. It is one of the most influential magazines in the country, and it shapes the opinions of the demi-intellectuals. Such people aren’t the ruling class per se, but rather the middle to upper management types who have drifted from the center-right to the center-left.

I’ve written about Nichols before, and I decided to write about him again after reading a totally ridiculous Twitter thread that purported to describe the psychological state of Red voters.

Nichols, whose experience with such people in recent years is likely through watching CNN and MSNBC, reading the New York Times, and discussions at coffee shops with his colleagues who think that people in Red states are hell-bent on controlling the wiser Blue urban crowd because we resent them for being so much better and smarter than we.

He seems to be utterly unaware that we dislike people like him for exactly the opposite reason: they keep butting into our lives to trans our kids, abort every baby, and wokeify the military that is comprised mostly of the people he despises. He wonders why fewer people are enlisting… Hmm.

Elite-types seem to think that shoving CRT, books about how to hook up with adults on Grindr, and stuffing our sons into dresses is the natural order of things.

Or at least he is confused as to why we might not like it.

Who wants to bet that Tom or almost anybody in the Elite haven’t perused a single one of the “affirming” books that schools are feeding children?

I forced a liberal relative, who was complaining about “censorship,” to actually read one. His response? “It doesn’t belong in any library, no less an elementary school.” People need to confront what they are shoving on kids, but usually refuse. That’s why so many school boards object when parents read from the books that teachers shove in kids’ faces.

Liberals literally have no clue what we are objecting to because they don’t want to. We should send a copy of “This Book is Gay” to every parent in America and inform them about which schools promote it to kids.

Except that would only enrich the author and publisher, both of whom belong in mental institutions or jails.

East Jesus Pancake House. I don’t resent Tom. I think he has no idea what he is talking about, and is unwilling to actually find out. Spend a few months with Salena Zito, or even Bari Weiss, and he could learn.

Are we supposed to listen to people who refer to us this way?

This sort of language is from a man whose magazine celebrates releasing felons in the street or calls governors pursuing COVID policies murderers. Is he unselfconscious, or just letting his freak flag fly, letting his hatred for average people hang out there for all to see?

Remember, his argument is that it is WE who are resentful and irrational. Projection much?

You ignorant bigot, Red-state man! Just do what we tell you!

Expect this book to be a bestseller, because it confirms every prejudice that the Elite class has about the people who actually make this country work.

Nobody in his class builds anything, keeps the electricity on, the plumbing working, the gourmet coffee delivered, the Ubers available for him to take, or grows the food he eats every day. And not one of them would survive a month if the power went down for that long.

I know I wouldn’t. I grew up in Tom’s class. I was an academic, and a son of academics. That’s why I am so grateful to the people who defend this country, police the streets, and make things work. Without them, I am dead, and I know it.

Tom Nichols, who used to consider himself a conservative, has fully embraced his inner snob. Along with almost every member of the elite class. He is speaking to them and for them, and declaring that he and his kind are better and have a right to rule over us.

In return, we should suggest everybody who truly believes this start repairing their plumbing, restringing the power lines to their houses after a storm, and growing their own food. Try it.

Get back to us when you start begging for mercy. Because the Elites need average people much more than we need them.
