Eaton became the first person in 50 years to defend the decathlon title, tying an Olympic record in doing so. He’s only the third person to ever defend decathlon gold.

Yesterday, Maroulis won the first-ever gold medal by an American woman in wrestling. She defeated Saori Yoshida of Japan.
Two golds in 400m hurdles The United States reigned supreme in the 400m hurdles, winning gold in both the men’s race and the women’s race. Kerron Clement’s gold was the first for the U.S. Men’s Track and Field team in Rio, and Daliah Muhammad won the first-ever gold by an American woman in the event. The U.S. also won a bronze medal in the women’s 400m hurdles.
