Sunday morning talking heads

Robert Mueller’s Wednesday press conference marked the informal end of Russiagate, which means for the Sunday shows that it’s time to … keep talking about Russiagate. Jim Jordan and Adam “Pencil Neck” Schiff are set for “This Week” to discuss the prospect of subpoenaing Mueller. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, will appear on “Face the Nation” to assess the chances of hauling him before the upper chamber. And Andrew McCabe will sit down with “Meet the Press” to complain about Bill Barr’s probe of the origins of the Russiagate investigation and the likelihood of him being sent to prison.

If you’re bored with that subject, no problem. Trump’s new tariffs on Mexico, aimed at producing an immediate reduction in illegal immigration, are another hot topic this morning. Appearing for the White House are acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan, who’ll be on “State of the Union,” and chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, who’ll stop by “Meet the Press” and “Fox News Sunday.” Keep an eye on John Kennedy’s appearance on “Face the Nation,” though, as he’s the only Republican member of the Senate scheduled today. What’s the mood in Trump’s own party about a tariff-fueled economic slowdown that will imperil the GOP’s chances next fall? Kennedy will have something to say about it.

Should none of that appeal to you, Beto O’Rourke will sit down with “Meet the Press” to attack Trump over the Mexico trade war and to try to convince viewers that his campaign’s not already dead. The full line-up is at the AP.
