Sure, let's post the new "Star Wars" trailer

To cleanse the palate, I know you’ve already seen it today but it’s an unwritten rule of Internet culture that new Star Wars material simply can’t be overexposed.

I might post it three more times today to fill out my quota of posts, in fact. If the boss complains, just refer him to the rule.

I feel like We As A People occupy the same position towards Star Wars at this point as we did towards Lennon’s and McCartney’s solo careers circa 1975. Hope that the old magic might somehow be recaptured is almost completely gone — but not just yet. “Band on the Run” was pretty good, right? “Rogue One” wasn’t bad! What if the stars align and these sonsabitches uncork another classic that shakes the world?

But deep down we know better, don’t we.

We’ll face the hard truth eventually. Or, more likely, we’ll reach a point of such desperation to have the magic back that we’ll delude ourselves into believing it’s actually still there. “Wonderful Christmastime” is quite … catchy, in its own way, no? “The Last Jedi,” well, it has a good beat and you can dance to it.

Actually, from the looks of this, they’re going to try to pretend that “The Last Jedi” never happened and get back to where the series once belonged. Sort of a Star Wars “White Album,” returning to basics after the weirder experimental stuff.
