Video: The comedy stylings of Mr. Paul Ryan

To cleanse the palate on a slow Friday afternoon, 18 minutes from last night’s Al Smith dinner. In a presidential election year, the Democratic and Republican party nominees take turns roasting each other at this event. In a non-election year, who can you call? Obviously the most powerful member of the ruling party apart from the president himself.

Steve Bannon wasn’t available, though, so they called Ryan. *rimshot*

God love ‘im, he’s trying his best here but the material is stronger as written than it is as delivered. A decent one:

“Everyone will report what happened here tonight differently. Breitbart will lead with ‘Ryan slams the president amongst liberal elites.’ The New York Times will report ‘Ryan defends the President in a state Hillary won.’ And the president will tweet, ‘300,000 at Al Smith dinner cheer mention of my name.'”

Another noteworthy one:

“Every morning, I wake up in my office and scroll Twitter to see which tweets I will have to pretend that I didn’t see later.”

Not everyone liked that gag. “Salon conservatives,” man. Whaddaya gonna do?

Kinda surprised Trump hasn’t tweeted about this today, to be honest. “Speaker Eddie Munster bombed last night at the Al Smith dinner! Not good!”
