The Sunday shows will change pace this morning, with an actual storm taking precedence over political storms. Every program will have coverage of Hurricane Harvey rampaging through southeast Texas, I’m sure, but for the moment FEMA chief Brock Long is booked only on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Expect that to change or, at a minimum, for other administration officials to show up across the dial to project calm. Long, by the way, has been in the job for only two months but has nearly 20 years of experience in emergency management. He was FEMA’s hurricane program manager for five years under George W. Bush, from 2001 to the beginning of 2006, leaving just a few months after Hurricane Katrina. He and the president are in a big spot here, needless to say. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

If you’re more interested in political storms, John Kasich will be on “Meet the Press” to stoke the fantasy that he and John Hickenlooper might run as a fusion ticket in 2020 and that they have a prayer of winning if they did. And Rex Tillerson will stop by “Fox News Sunday” to discuss America’s bold new “we can’t win but they can’t either” strategy in Afghanistan. The full line-up is at the AP.
