Push the button: Centrist Lisa Murkowski warns Democrats that she's ready to go nuclear to confirm Gorsuch

It’s the last four minutes here, starting at 12:50, that finally bring a discussion of the filibuster. In case there’s any ambiguity about her position, the money line comes at 15:08: “I do not believe that Judge Gorsuch is getting a fair shake in today’s Senate. And as much and as deeply as I care about bipartisanship in this body, I will not acquiesce to an effort to deny Judge Gorsuch a seat on the Supreme Court.” If even super-moderate Lisa Murkowski is ready to push the button, will there be a single Republican who votes no on the rule change to eliminate the filibuster? Susan Collins? Anyone? Bueller?

Tomorrow’s the day. Duck and cover.

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who hasn’t said how she will vote on the nuclear option, argued that both parties “will rue the day” that led to the likely rule change.

“If it’s necessary in order to get him confirmed, I may have to vote that way, but I certainly don’t want to,” Collins told reporters Monday night…

Collins said Gorsuch deserves to be on the high court and that she’s “committed” to making sure he gets confirmed.

Time for predictions. Does McConnell get all 52 votes for nuclear release? Or do a few red-state Dems reach some half-assed deal with McConnell at the last minute to avert the nuking? Those are the only two options still on the table, realistically.
