Enjoy the Powell/DNC leaks while you can because they all but ensure that not even local councilmen will be so foolish in the future as to commit their candid thoughts to writing, even in texts to their spouse. In an age when any platform is hackable, the only safety is in silence.

Fortuitously, he sourced the “still d*cking bimbos” bit here to the New York Post. If he hadn’t, we’d be hip-deep in a “What does Colin Powell know about the bimbos Bill Clinton is still d*cking?” news cycle.

I’m not a fan but Powell drops a lot of truth bombs in the stuff that’s been revealed so far, especially about his friend Hillary. As a pithy summation of Clinton’s career, you could do worse than “Everything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris.” This little nugget is awfully interesting too:

This is a guy who knows Hillary personally saying, “On HD tv she doesn’t look good.” To which his chat buddy replies, “she could barely climb the podium steps” for a speech in late 2014/early 2015. That’s worse than the “d*cking bimbos” email! If even a casual acquaintance like Powell is speculating about her health privately, it must be that people who know her better were doing so too. Which makes me wonder what the FSB/Guccifer/Wikileaks crowd is holding back, for release later at just the right moment. Imagine an internal DNC email between higher-ups in which one tells the other that they’ve heard from a friend in the party that she has Parkinson’s or whatever. At a minimum that revelation would dominate news coverage for a few days, which would be useful in changing the subject from something damaging to Trump. There has to be more in the hacker goodie bag.

Powell’s in a weird position politically now, though, huh? For the past eight years he’s been the sensible above-it-all kinda sorta nonpartisan guy who hates the right and was happy to say nice things about Obama. Now here he is knifing Clinton repeatedly in private like an old lady gossiping at lunch. If there were any plans to roll him out on the Sunday shows in October to make the case that Clinton is the only responsible choice when the GOP has nominated someone like Trump, they’re gone now. Whether he likes it or not, Powell might be stuck being a Republican again after the election. Unless they won’t take him back.
