Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

We’re less than a month away from the big vote in New Hampshire and not quite three weeks away from caucus night in Iowa, which means it’s time for the GOP’s top tier to start plastering themselves across the Sunday morning chat shows. You want Trump? You got him: He’s booked for “Meet the Press” and “Fox News Sunday.” Ted Cruz? Yep. He’ll sit down with Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Marco Rubio? Sure. He’s Stephanopoulos’s lead guest on “This Week.” Chris Christie? He’s scheduled too, behind Paul Ryan on “Face the Nation.” The Trump/Cruz Birther squabble has gotten most of the ink this week, and that’ll continue to be true this afternoon when they’re both inevitably asked about it this a.m., but for sheer nastiness it pales next to the Rubio/Christie war. Rubio’s basically taken to calling Christie another Obama; Christie’s responded by claiming Rubio is a lightweight who’s had his entire political career handed to him. If you want fireworks this morning, they’re more likely to deliver than Trump and Cruz are. Mutually assured destruction for the center-right in New Hampshire?

Also this morning, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough will be on four of the five shows (he’s not booked yet for “Face the Nation” as I write this, but that may change) to remind America that guns are bad and Obama really cares. The full line-up is at the AP.
