Video: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" -- the ultimate supercut trailer

To cleanse the palate, a viral goodie that’s north of 1.3 million views on YouTube in just five days. A simple concept, superbly executed: Take the various bits from all three “Force Awakens” trailers released so far plus the footage shown at Comic Con and piece them together jigsaw-style into something vaguely resembling the plot of the movie. It appears that Rey, the Natalie Portman lookalike, starts out as a teen pining for adventure on a dusty planet before finding her Jedi relatives whereas Finn, a.k.a. “the black Stormtrooper,” evolves from morally conflicted leading man to hero of the Rebel Alliance. Which is … the same basic character arcs for Luke and Han, respectively, in the original “Star Wars.” Or is it more the case that Luke’s character arc is being divided between two people this time? After all, Luke and Finn both have a pedigree in the Empire, literally in Luke’s case and figuratively in Finn’s, and it looks like Finn will be the ace pilot who saves the day in this one. Unless Han does it again. Or Luke himself does it. Now I’m confused.

One thing’s for sure: The story of Skywalker descendants learning to come to terms with their inheritance in the Force under the supervision of grizzled elders is eternal. Apparently.
