But looking back now, she can see why the average American simpleton might have trouble understanding why it was okay to circulate classified material illegally on a private server, leaving it grievously vulnerable to foreign spies. This is the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president.

Forty-one percent favorable is the lowest she’s been since the 1992 campaign, and I’d bet cash money that the only reason she was lower than that at the time was because most Americans didn’t know yet who she was and thus hadn’t formed an opinion about her. In other words, she’s reached rock bottom. That’ll turn around if/when she clinches the nomination and all the liberals who hate her right now decide that even a corrupt liar who crapped the bed on protecting state secrets because having her own secret e-mail system was more important to her than national security is vastly preferable to whatever Hitlerian nightmare Jeb Bush or whoever would unleash on America. So enjoy these disintegrating poll numbers while they last. Come next July, she could murder someone on camera at the convention and she won’t drop below 47-48 percent favorable.

Here’s my favorite line from today’s Andrea Mitchell interview, which unfortunately didn’t make it into the clip:

She explained that she had used a personal email account as a senator from New York and didn’t spend much time considering alternatives when she became secretary of state in 2009. “I did all my business on my personal email [in the Senate],” Clinton said. “I was not thinking a lot when I got in [to the State Department]. There was so much work to be done. We had so many problems around the world. I didn’t really stop and think what kind of email system will there be.”

If you don’t understand why it was simpler for Hillary to hire people to build an inferior private e-mail system in her home in 2009 instead of using the secure official State Department system that was already in place and ready to go, well, that’s just you being confused again.

Exit question: You want a president who admits that she “was not thinking a lot” about the natsec implications of her conduct upon taking her seat in the cabinet, right?
