“The leader of the free world may be coming to Williamsburg for some rest and relaxation if Congress is able to come to agreement on the budget. President Obama and the First Family are planning to visit the area this weekend in what the White House described Wednesday as a ‘long-planned family trip to Colonial Williamsburg.’

“But the trip might get grounded if a government shutdown can’t be averted by Republicans and Democrats in Congress…

“Tom Shrout, a spokesman for Colonial Williamsburg, said that he had not received any confirmation on Wednesday that the Obamas would be visiting. ‘It’d be wonderful to have them visit the historic area,’ Shrout said. ‘But we’ve had no confirmation of it at this time. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.'”

“Democratic sources tell ABC News that things ‘feel better now’ in terms of a deal being cut, but the major sticking point remains the GOP rider prohibiting any federal funding to Planned Parenthood or any of its affiliates.

“The final figure for budget cuts is a work in progress – somewhere between $33 and $36 billion in new spending cuts – but negotiators are ‘very close,’ one Democratic told ABC News.
